With the 2010’s in the rear-view mirror, we decided to take a look back at every season of Big Brother from the previous decade. In our look back, we decided to rank the 6 most shocking twists of the decade.

With the 2010’s now over, we decided to reflect on every season of Big Brother that took place last decade. There have been many twists over the course of the decade. So, we decided to rank the 6 most shocking twists of the 2010’s. This will include both the Celebrity and Over the Top versions of Big Brother.

Now, these twists do not have to have originated in the 2010’s nor been effective. They just have to have shock value. Number 2 is The coaches twist from Big Brother 14.

No. 2: The coaches twist

The central twist to Big Brother 14 was the coaches twist. For this twist, 4 Big Brother legends would return to the game as coaches. The 4 coaches were Dan Gheesling, Janelle Pierzina, Mike “Boogie” Malin, and Britney Haynes. They would pick 3 newbies each that they would guide all the way to the $500,000 prize. If one of the 3 newbies they selected won the season, that coach would win $100,000.

The coaches lived in the Big Brother house but could not win HOH, be nominated, or vote to evict. If all 3 of their players got evicted, the coach would be evicted as well. However, the coaches would get to compete in a coaches competition. The winning coach would be able to keep one of their players safe or trade one of their players to another team in exchange for one of their players.

The shock value here is that the returning players were there not to play the game but there as coaches. Normally when there are returning players, they are there as full-fledged players instead of coaches. This twist created 2 games going on at the same time instead of 1.
