8. The Croods 2

Next up is the first sequel to make the list and that’s Dreamworks’ The Croods 2. This is one that has a bit of an unsavory history. Originally set to release in 2017, the film was scrapped before eventually being in the works again. After a few changes though, the film was back on track and is now set to release in December. Surprisingly, it has the same planned released date as the film on the list, Tom and Jerry.

This film is the sequel to the 2013’s The Croods. The film follows a family of cavepeople as the world is changing around them and what happens when they have to find someplace to go after an earthquake. The film was applauded for its animation, voice cast and how action-packed it was for a kid’s movie.

The voice cast was impressive for the first film and thankfully most of them are returning. The voice cast included Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds and Catherine Keener. All of which are reprising their roles for the second film. As for some new additions, The Croods 2 will add Peter Dinkley and Kelly Marie Tran.

It would be important if we talked about the film’s plot and according to IMBD: “The prehistoric family the Croods are challenged by a rival family the Bettermans, who claim to be better and more evolved.” If anything, the plot sounds like it’s going to be unique while still being a classic tale of old and new coming together. Since it’s releasing close to Christmas, we might even get a few scenes centered around Christmas, too.
