Servant on Apple TV Plus: What we learned from the Season 1 finale
Jericho was probably brought back to life
The biggest mystery of all has been Jericho’s story. The last episodes of the season explain that Jericho was born and died at a later time because Dorothy accidentally left him in the car on a hot summer day. The new baby that Leanne brings to the Turner’s could, of course, could be Leanne’s child or the child of someone she knows. But given Leanne’s ability to bring dead things back to life like the stray dog and the cricket, it is likely that Leanne used her powers and brought Jericho back to life. According to Dorothy’s father, the resemblance between the child and Jericho is uncanny.
Dorothy finally realizes that Jericho is a doll
Leanne decides to go back home with May and George. The two underhanded cult members were successful because they know how to take advantage of Leanne’s innocence. In framing the Turner’s as a family that didn’t deserve a second chance, May was able to convince Leanne to leave. Plus, Leanne had already been upset with Dorothy since she discovered how Jericho died.
When she leaves, the lifeless doll is left behind in Jericho’s crib, and Dorothy finally recognizes that the toy is not her baby. But a detail to note, is that May told Leanne that they both need to come home, meaning that Jericho would have to go with her.
As the first season of Servant comes to a close, we have a better idea of what happened to Jericho and why Leanne came to work for the Turner’s. The only thing we don’t know is what Julian saw the night he discovered Dorothy at home with her dead baby. But I’m sure all of that will be uncovered in the second season, that will show the aftermath of Dorothy’s awakening and possibly a push to find Jericho and Leanne to make the Turner house whole again.
