10. Thor: Ragnarok

Original Release Date: November 3, 2017

Box Office Earnings: Thor: Ragnarok is the Thor movie all fans of the superhero had been waiting for and the numbers prove this! Domestically, this MCU chapter gathered $315 million, while collecting another $538.9 million overseas. This brings the movie’s grand total to $853.9 million.

Critical Acclaim: As stated above, this is the movie both fans and critics had long been waiting for. Over at Rotten TomatoesThor: Ragnarok holds a proud 93% fresh, which is a lot better than its two previous standalone movies received. In fact, it’s near perfection. The movie was also nominated for various Empire Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, Saturn Awards, and more.

About the Role: Sure, this movie is all about Thor and he is at his best — better than he has before and completely transforming the character for future MCU chapters to come. However, I would love to argue how much Mark Ruffalo helps make this happen.

Thor changes the most in this movie, but there are also many steps Ruffalo takes towards a Hulk-upgrade. We get to see a different side of Bruce Banner, and Ruffalo makes us all fall even more in love with the character.

Simply the Best: Unlike the other times Ruffalo takes on the role of Hulk, in Thor: Ragnarok it’s all about how much fun he is having! It’s obvious the actor is loving this performance, one that he has grown so used to, that he does it flawlessly and near effortlessly.
