Despite some uncredentialed detractors, The Biggest Loser is back with host Bob Harper. Trainers Steve Cook and Erica Lugo round out the show aimed at helping people who have sleep apnea, massive cholesterol levels, type 2 diabetes, and body fat so elevated the percentages of obesity related health issues are a near certainty.

Based on the first episode, here are the rankings.

1. Jim DiBattista

Team: Red
Starting Weight: 385 lbs.
Breakdown: Jim’s a father of three who coaches youth football and is mad about his weight and Type 2 Diabetes. He wants to fight for his children. During the first 1-mile running challenge he proves he needs more motivation, because he walks a lot and finishes 11th out of 12. He definitely turns up the heat during the week, and ends up losing more than anyone.
Weight Loss: This episode, 22 lbs.; Total, 22 lbs.

2. Katarina Bouton

Team: Red
Starting Weight: 293 lbs.
Breakdown: As a cardiac nurse, there is less of an excuse for Katarina. She knows better, and wants to practice what she preaches. She places 10th in the run, and saves the red team.
Weight Loss: This episode, 14 lbs.; Total, 14 lbs.

3. Domenico Brugellis

Team: Red
Starting Weight: 323 lbs.
Breakdown: Dom doesn’t have a good start. He graduated culinary school, but didn’t quit because it involved food. He has lots of excuses for quitting this battle. Despite the excuses, however, he finishes the run 7th, right in the middle of the pack.
Weight Loss: This episode, 14 lbs.; Total, 14 lbs.

6. Micah Collum

7. Megan Hoffman

Team: Blue

11. PhiXavier Holmes

Team: Red
Starting Weight: 357 lbs.
Breakdown: PhiXavier will benefit from the psychological aspect of the show as much as the weight loss. Day one she lets Coach Erica know about holding on to her father’s death since she was 9-years old. Based upon how quickly she quits on the 1-mile challenge (dead last, over 26-minutes to complete), she’s definitely Coach Erica’s biggest challenge.

12. Robert Richardson

Team: Blue

He is the first competitor to be eliminated because his starting weight was so much more than the others, and his percentage lost was the lowest.
