Lifetime’s Neighbor in the Window: Lisa’s 5 craziest deeds
By Mads Lennon
Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Jenn Lyon star in Lifetime’s latest Ripped from the Headlines movie, The Neighbor in the Window. Just how crazy does Lisa get?
Lifetime’s latest Ripped from the Headlines movie, The Neighbor in the Window, is based on author Kathie Truitt’s true account of being tormented by her neighbor for many years. The film drew from her book, False Victim.
Jenn Lyon plays the conniving neighbor, Lisa, who begins to copy and antagonize newcomer Karen (Jaime-Lynn Sigler). What starts as seemingly innocent moves to become friendly with her new neighbor quickly becomes increasingly disturbing as Lisa attempts to ruin Karen’s life.
5. Wearing Karen’s dress to school
When Karen first moves into the neighborhood, she and Lisa become fast friends. Karen thinks she’s moved into a tightknit community that will ensure she has friends for life. Karen, Lisa, and their other neighbor form a “mom group” and go back-to-school shopping together. Karen buys a dress she loves that the other women encourage her to wear.
Fast-forward to the first day of school, and Karen decides it’s the perfect opportunity to rock her new outfit. Lisa walks into the classroom wearing the same outfit claiming she never imagined that Karen would choose the same day to try on her new outfit. Lisa’s Single White Female mission begins.

4. Buying the same necklace, Karen wears
Karen wears a sweet necklace that her husband bought her as a tribute to a daughter they had in the past who sadly passed away. After learning about the secret of her necklace, Lisa makes up a lie about having a daughter named Annabelle that also died. Karen is rather horrified to see Lisa wearing the same necklace the next time she sees her.
Even worse, Lisa’s husband confirms they never had another child, but someone in their family did. To justify her slip-up, Lisa lies and says she has Parkinson’s disease, which affects her memory. However, she tells someone else she has Lupus. Her lies begin to spiral out of control.
3. Trying to get Karen’s son taken away from her
Between trying to seduce Karen’s husband on Halloween and then trying to force Karen to give her $5,000, Lisa’s actions only get worse. She calls the school and reports that Karen is neglecting her son.
She claims that Karen lets him go hungry and that he doesn’t have enough clothes. While the school doesn’t necessarily believe her accusations, Karen isn’t allowed to keep reading to the students, and Lisa lords her ability to call social services any time she wants over the family.
2. Getting a restraining order against Karen
When Karen loses her temper on Lisa one day and screams at her in the school parking lot (after seeing Lisa bought her exact same car), Lisa uses the action as ammunition to get a restraining order against her neighbor. Of course, the restraining order is merely a stepping stone in her grand master plan to get Karen thrown in jail, as is evidenced by what happened next.
1. Accusing Karen of trying to murder her
In her worst and final deed, Lisa waited outside of her house, with her daughter, for Karen to drive down the road. She then threw herself in front of Karen’s car and accused her of attempted murder. The case is taken to trial, and it honestly looked like Lisa could win.
Luckily, Lisa’s daughter isn’t willing to lie for her mother on the stand and admits that Lisa was waiting outside to throw herself in the road. It’s also discovered that Lisa is wearing a cast but never actually went to a doctor. Karen is acquitted of all charges, thankfully. But the film ends with her and her family moving and a new family moving in where Lisa looks on ominously through her window at her next victims.
Next weekend, Ripped from the Headlines continues with You Can’t Take My Daughter, premiering on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
