What’s streaming on Shudder this March?

Daniel Isn’t Real and John Fawcett’s cult classic Gingers Snaps are just some of the new additions coming to Shudder in March.

To be honest, March 2020 doesn’t look like the best month for Shudder. Unless you really like bizarre and bloody movies, but it’s not a complete loss. We’re getting some interesting indie films such as Howl and Replace, in addition to three new original films and the season finale of the Māori inspired web series The Dead Lands.

I’m just shocked they’re not including the Leprechaun movies for St. Paddy’s Day. Nearly every network finds an excuss to air those movies around March 17 but anyway, here’s everything coming to Shudder in March.

Original Series

The Dead Lands

Season finale airing on March 5

The first season of the Māori themed series starring Te Kohe Tuhaka and Darneen Christian will conclude on March 5. Based on the film of the same name, a disgraced warrior and a young tribeswoman team up when the dead start to rise and take over the land. The veil between the living and the dead has been broken and only they, together, can fix it. The previous episodes are available to watch on Shudder.

Mission Season 2

A French series set in the near future about a group of astronauts that make a misjudged voyage to Mars and loses one of their crewmembers. Now, five years later, the surviving members start to see visions of their lost comrade, convincing them that she is alive. They embark on a new mission for the Red Planet determined to find her, but they discover that nothing is what they expect. Starring Giorgia Sinicorni, Ben Homewood and Ralph Amoussou. Season 1 is available on Shudder.

Original/Exclusive films

The Room

(premieres Thursday, 3/12)

More from Streaming

Note to future filmmakers/writers. Please, stop naming movies “the room.” We have Brie Larson’s Room, the infamous catastrophe also called The Room and now this movie. It can get confusing.

Directed by Christian Volckman, The Room is about a couple that discovers a secret room tucked away inside their new New Hampshire home. The room has the power to materialize anything they wish for. Sounds great right? Well, it isn’t.

They end up asking for a child, a little boy of their own, however, doing so is against the rules of the room as the creations are not permitted to leave the house without wasting away. The film won Best Feature at the Bucheon International & Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival. A Shudder Original. It stars Olga Kurylenko and Kevin Janssens.

Satanic Panic

(premieres Thursday, 3/19)
Directed by Chelsea Stardust, Satanic Panic is a horror-comedy similar to Netflix’s The Babysitter. About a young woman named Sam who meets a group of Santantist while delivering pizzas. She literally walks into one of their meetings, but it’s not the pepperoni they’re interested in, it’s the virgin delivering it. They ordered a pizza just to get their hands on a sacrifice, and now Sam has to fight for her life. She must fend off witches, dark magic and demonic creatures, all while trying to keep her body and soul intact. A Shudder exclusive. It stars Hayley Griffith, Ruby Modine, Rebecca Romijn, Arden Myrin and Jerry O’Connell.

Daniel Isn’t Real

(premieres Thursday, 3/26)

This one I’m really excited about! It’s a total mindf***k. After witnessing a violent mass shooting as a child, Luke creates Daniel, a confident imaginary friend to help him cope. After a near tragedy involving Daniel, Luke locks him away, but now, years later Luke realizes that he needs Daniel once again and conjures him back.

In a Narrator/Tyler Durden kind of dynamic, the two stand as stark opposites that complement each other. Daniel is charismatic and full of manic energy, everything Luke is not. He helps Luke achieve his dreams, however, things take a turn for the worst when their friendship becomes a battle for Luke’s mind and body. Daniel seems determined to push Luke past the edge of sanity.

It’s the recipient of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival Best Feature award, it also won Best Actor and the Sitges-Catalonian and Best Director at the Bucheon International Festival. A Shudder exclusive. It stars Patrick Schwarzenegger, Miles Robbins, Sasha Lane, Hannah Marks, and Mary Stuart Masterson.
