We’ve made no attempt to hide of our love for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist since day one. And yet, not a single word of praise we’ve given so far is in any way adequate to explain just how important the series’ fourth episode is.
If you missed the line in Episode 3 about Mo (Alex Newell) not liking labels, you might want to go back and rewatch that scene between the four and five-minute marks. It might have seemed like a throwaway, part of a casual conversation between Zoey (Jane Levy) and Simon (John Clarence Stewart); but it’s a big part of what makes “Zoey’s Extraordinary Neighbor” so special.
Alex Newell‘s Mo is the center of attention in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 4. The extraordinary neighbor in question, Mo, finally sings a “heart song” to Zoey. But for all Mo’s willingness to help with other people’s problems, the character is not at all prepared to open up about a very personal struggle.

On the outside, Mo is nothing if not confident. But it turns out, no matter how comfortable the character seems to be in his own skin, he still feels like he needs to hide who he is in at least one aspect of his life.
