Justin Chambers, America Ferrera, and the 30 most shocking TV exits of all time
By Mads Lennon
16. NCIS: Pauley Perrette
Perrette played the fan-favorite character, Abby Sciuto, for 15 seasons of NCIS. Lots of people were endeared by her goth-chic character who was often found working in the lab. However, while she did give fans time to come around to the idea of her departure, it didn’t stop people from wondering what the truth was behind her exit.
Sadly, it sounds like Perrette may have experienced harassment on set. Per an article from Vanity Fair, Perrette claimed she was physically assaulted multiple times. It appeared that there was bad blood between her and co-star Mark Harmon.
She also made several vague tweets stating that she would never return to the show. The entire situation seems rather complicated, both by Perrette’s numerous tweets and CBS’s own statement on the matter.
15. Desperate Housewives: Nicolette Sheridan
Nicolette Sheridan lands on this list again for a much nastier and more public exit that occurred years before she appeared on Dynasty. During her time on Desperate Housewives, Sheridan portrayed Edie Britt, the queen of manipulation and scathing one-liners. She became a fan-favorite and Sheridan’s performance was widely acclaimed by many critics and audience members.
Unfortunately, her character was killed off in season five and Sheridan filed a $20 million lawsuit against showrunner Marc Cherry, alleging that he had assaulted her on set and that she was terminated after she reported the abuse to the network.
She sued Cherry for wrongful termination, gendered violence, emotional distress, and more. All the other main actresses on the show pledged to support Cherry in the allegations against him.
