Sad news, Saturday Night Live fans! SNL is the latest series to halt production due to coronavirus fears. When will it return with new episodes?

Well, we can’t truly say we didn’t see it coming! Saturday Night Live is currently on a two-week break, but not because of coronavirus fears, it’s just the way it was planned out. If you watch the sketch series often, you are likely aware of its confusing schedule. It’s on one week and gone the next two or three. SNL was set to return on Saturday, March 28, with John Krasinski as host and Dua Lipa as the musical guest.

However, TVLine reports that NBC has pulled the plug on Krasinski’s SNL, and all other upcoming episodes, until further notice. This would have been episode 16 into Season 45, which is set to consist of 21 episodes.

Many live shows, mostly talk shows, have gone on without an audience. It’s not the same, to say the least, but the whole point of Saturday Night Live is the live audience. With multiple cities on lockdown and the rest of us practicing social distancing, a live audience is impossible.

The source doesn’t let us know if NBC has a date set to continue the final five episodes of Saturday Night Live Season 45. TVLine shares that “NBC is taking a wait-and-see approach.”

When will SNL return? I have read that multiple networks are shutting production for up to eight weeks, some six. My guess, when it comes to SNL, is that it won’t be back until late April or early May. We’ll keep you posted!

Krasinski was scheduled to appear to promote his upcoming film A Quiet Place II, which has been pushed back. The news of SNL is likely going to be followed by multiple more as the globe begins to take extreme precautions.
