3. Billie

Yeah, we saw some Billie this week on Supernatural. She’s always a little cranky and very no-nonsense. She has no tolerance for bending the rules (unless it’s her idea, of course). This appearance was no exception.

When she figured out that Merle had not only failed to control Jack and keep him in line to do her bidding, Billie was not happy. “Merle had one job. She failed.” Billie was cut and dry (pun intended) when explaining why she showed up and reaped Merle with her giant scythe while staring our heroes straight in the eyes.

“We’re only as strong as our weakest player,” she said. Billie didn’t mince words when she gave her reasoning, meanwhile boasting about her strength, being able to easily do away with one life for the benefit of the big picture.

This was a gratuitous appearance, however, because Sam was able to take the lead and question her motives and plans. He was really displeased that he didn’t know what was going on with her idea to use Jack to kill God, and this gave us some much-anticipated plot fillers.

We gained a ton of information about Death as a position, her library, and the fact that everything dies. I mean, we did know that to a degree, but this felt like an important sentence. Let’s keep that in mind, going forward. I’m kind of wondering if that’s going to come back to bite her later.

Will we see the original Death again? He did clearly state that when the time came, he would personally reap God. I would sure love to see that happen, actually. I must admit though, it’ll be hard to see Chuck go, if that’s the way it happens. He’s a brat, but I still kind of feel for him. I’m sure that’s the Supernatural geniuses at work again.

As for Billie, she told us the books write themselves. This is a cool fact because I was really wondering what her deal was when she gave Dean the info that the Ma’lak box was his fate, then it wasn’t. Was she lying? Was she wrong? Were the books trash? Now we know, they can change.

But for now, the books say that Sam, Dean, and Jack are all part of a master plan. They are “the messengers of God’s destruction,” whatever that is going to mean. Castiel wasn’t really specifically included in that statement though, so we’ll see what that’s going to amount to.
