The Challenge is returning to MTV with its impressive 35th season, and with a stacked group of competitors, there are a few standouts we’re excited to see.

The Challenge recently dropped its full trailer, and this season aims to change up the rules of the more recent formats. One change is that the players will be kept in a bunker without doors or windows, something sure to set off some of the veterans accustomed to the bunk bed filled mansions. Another twist that many are excited to see play out comes from the confirmation that if you hope to see a final, you’ll have to win an elimination.

After the frustrating imbalance of alliances that occurred in War of the Worlds, The Challenge now requires those to earn a spot in the final which means the standard set of politics will only get you so far. With a change to the format, this will test many of the challengers both rookies and returning players, making a few standouts. Spoiler alert, it’s the women of The Challenge that are the most exciting as always!

5. Tula “Big T” Fazakerley

More from Reality TV

Many Challenge fans enjoyed Big T when she made her debut on season 34, but unfortunately, her time was short-lived after an endurance elimination against Georgia. When she was announced to return, it proved that production knows there’s plenty of potential from the competitor and we will be anxious to see how she handles a more individual format game without numbers against her.

4. Tori Deal

Tori has always been an impressive Challenge competitor after having made it to multiple finals and barely coming short of a win. Last season the numbers were constantly against the newly engaged couple of Jordan and Tori, but despite the uphill battle, she made it to the final where her fiance ended up on the winning team. Tori will also be joined by Jordan this season, but there’s still a lot of potential for Tori to pull off her first win in the near future.

3. Jennifer West

Jennifer (Jenny) made the cut to return after her rookie season on

War of The Worlds

, viewed as a major force to be reckoned with. She was described as an overwhelmingly intimidating competitor and most hoped to avoid any form of physical contact. As the season progressed, she fell short in a daily challenge against Kam and was later eliminated by Tori in the elimination known as Hall Brawl. To see someone of her stature get eliminated by someone half her size was enough to properly introduce Jenny to the world of

The Challenge

. Hopefully, now she can come back with a better understanding of the obstacles and uniquely competitive nature to prove that she’s the juggernaut everyone initially feared.

2. Nany Gonzalez

Nany has been featured in nearly 10 seasons of the long-running franchise, and she’s almost guaranteed a lengthy stay. From making it to finals or coming up just short of one, Nany has proven time and time again that she can adapt and often influence the decisions made in the series, so seeing her with her best friend and “barbie beast” Jenna provide us with the return of a strong pair and an even stronger Nany. Here’s hoping she can pull off a much-deserved win!

1. Melissa Reeves

Melissa has only had a brief stint in her Challenge career, but with each appearance brought a lot of necessary screentime. Melissa has shown that she will go all out in a physical competition, as well as the fact that she’s strong-willed and refuses to give up regardless of who’s opposing her. When we last saw Melissa she was getting eliminated for an altercation, so seeing her get a redemption season and a chance to defeat her rival could be a pretty solid premise to Melissa’s comeback story.
