Bad Mothers, Sanctuary, and more coming to Sundance Now in May 2020

There’s plenty of new content coming to Sundance Now in May 2020. Whether you want a crime thriller or comedy, there’s something for all.

May is shaping up to be a great month for streamers. With Netflix bringing Dead to Me Season 2 and Acorn TV bringing new crime drama Gold Digger, there’s something across the board for all. Sundance Now in May 2020 is no different.

If you want comedy, you’ll want to check out Bad Mothers. Not to be confused with the American comedy movie Bad Moms, this Australian series stars Tess Haubrich as Sarah, a suburban wife whose husband has an affair with her best friend. It doesn’t help that Sarah’s friend, Charlotte, is the head of the Bedford Mothers’ Club and decides to destroy Sarah’s life further by putting her from the club. Sarah turns to those with the title “Bad Mothers” to get revenge on Charlotte.

The Nordic psychological thriller, Sanctuary, continues with new episodes throughout May 2020. Episode 3 sees Helena realize that fellow patients at Himmelstal feared Siri, and Corin warns Helena that Carol may torture him if he doesn’t return her camera.

For those who prefer to watch documentaries, The Case of Sally Challen will arrive on Sundance Now during the month. This focuses on the 2010 case of Sally Challen, who bludgeoned her husband to death when he was simply eating his dinner. Of course, there’s far more to this story, and Sally’s new defense lawyers argue that her husband used “coercive control.” The documentary looks at the first time “coercive control” has been used as a defense.

For those looking for a movie to watch, The Duchess is available from the start of the month. This 2008 movie stars Kiera Knightley as Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. Known for her extravagant life, both personally and politically, the dramatic movie gives us a look at her story. Ralph Fiennes, Dominic Coops, Hayley Atwell, and Charlotte Rampling also star.
