Watch Usher give a songwriter a chance on Songland Season 2, Episode 10

It’s hard to imagine that Usher needs help getting a new track out. Yet, he’s the one looking for a song on Songland Season 2, Episode 10.

Like so many others searching for hit songs this season, Usher is there to offer an unknown songwriter a chance. The show has become a chance for stars to help bring a new generation of songwriters into the spotlight. They’re mentoring in ways that they haven’t had a chance to in the past.

More from NBC

During the past episode, Ben Platt was the one to pick a new song. He opted for the song “Everything I Did to Get to You.”

Now it’s time for Usher to find a song that speaks to him. Just like previous episodes, he’ll listen to four songs but only three of them can head to the studio. Then he gets to pick one (or two if he goes the way of Bebe Rexha) to record for after the episode. Who will it be this time?

Does Usher need much of an introduction? I’m not sure he does, but for those who somehow haven’t heard of him, he was a big R&B superstar during the late 90s and throughout the 00s. He’s never stopped with his music, but has also moved into actor and is a business man.

You’ll know him for tracks like You Make Me Wanna… and Nice and Slow, as well as U Remind Me and U Got It Bad. On the acting side, you’ll have seen him on MoeshaShe’s All That, and most recently Hustlers.

While in recent past, he’s been accused of fraud, sexual battery, and causing emotional distress, the accusations have never been proven. Usher has remained out of the public eye for some time, but he’s back and ready to look for a song.

What about Songland Season 3?

We’re getting closer to the end of Songland Season 2. So far, NBC hasn’t confirmed if there’s going to be a third season.

While the show did see a drop from the first season, it’s been a steady performer for this season. It sits in the middle of spring/summer shows on the network, which suggests that a third season is possible.
