Comedy lovers all around have been fans of the sketch TV program The Catherine Tate Show, which ran for only three series from 2004 to 2006. But after the regular show concluded, multiple spinoffs were ordered, including Nan’s Christmas Carol in 2009, and Catherine Tate’s Nan (2014–2015).

Catherine’s fans have been waiting for the release of her latest spinoff, titled Nan The Movie, ever since it was announced back in early 2019. However, due to the various safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, the original June 19, 2020 release date had to be pushed back.

Well, we’re here to bring good news for Catherine Tate obsessives, because a new release date has been confirmed. The highly-anticipated Nan The Movie is reportedly now set for an October 2, 2020 cinema premiere!

The film is directed by Josie Rourke (Mary Queen of Scots) and written by Catherine Tate and Brett Goldstein. It will, of course, follow Nan, as fans get to see a closer glimpse at the character’s origin story. Additional cast members include Matthew Horne as Jamie, Ruchika Jain as Nira, Niky Wardley, Katherine Parkinson, and a handful of other actors.

In September 2019, Rourke shared the first look at filming for Nan The Movie, writing in her heartfelt caption, “I think I speak for loads of us when I say that my Gran’s spirit lives in Catherine Tate’s immortal Nan.” The director went on to gush over the Nan franchise, saying that “it is a massive treat to put [Catherine Tate’s] Nan on film.”

Obviously, this new release date is great news for fans of Catherine’s, and we’re all hoping the premiere can go smoothly and safely as new COVID-19 guidelines are being followed in cinemas.
