Drunk History

Another one of Comedy Central’s canceled shows is Drunk History. Like many others on the list, Drunk History was renewed, then canceled. We don’t know what drove the show’s creators, Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner, to come up with an educational series narrated by an inebriated person, but it worked!

Comedians and actors who’ve appeared on the show include Octavia Spencer, Johnny Knoxville, Maya Rudolph, and Justice Smith.

Just like Tosh.0, Comedy Central canceled the series due to new leadership wanting to focus on adult animation instead of live-action scripted series. A hit for the comedic focused network, throughout its six seasons, Drunk History earned 17 Emmy nominations. It follows a changing cast of comedians recreating historic moments.

Show creators had already planned to end the series with season 7. To add insult to injury, production for season 7 had already begun.

"“We were going to end the series with an episode called ‘Teacher Appreciation,’” said Waters, “and it was all the narrators talking about their favorite teacher growing up. And then I talk about my favorite teacher, and then my history teacher gets drunk and teaches a story.”"

“We flew him out from Maryland,” said Konner.

Waters is still under contract with Comedy Central and is currently writing a new show. We can’t wait to see what it is!
