Who’s in it: Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Diane Ladd, Treat Williams
What it’s about: Based on the series of novels by Sherryl Woods (the author of the Sweet Magnolias novels), Chesapeake Shores stars Meghan Ory as Abby O’Brien-Winters, who returns to her titular hometown from New York to help her sister renovate the local inn.
While dealing with starting over with her daughters in the wake of divorce and struggling with additional family matters, Abby also reunites with first love Trace Riley (Jesse Metcalfe). Suddenly, she’s on a collision course with the past and the future as something that seems like an obstacle to overcome turns into a well-earned second chance.
Why you should watch: It’s safe to say that if Sweet Magnolias wasn’t a big hit for Netflix, the series would have been a perfect fit for the Hallmark Channel. Being so, Chesapeake Shores was definitely cut from the same cloth as the feel-good dramedy. Both series have that escapist, feel-good quality we search for in entertainment and tell heartwarming love stories fit to make our hearts sing. There’s plenty of drama to keep you hooked and hanging on for every episode. More than anything, you’ll feel the small-town charm all throughout the cozy binge-watch.
