What it’s about: Following the death of his wife, Dr. Andy Brown (Treat Williams) moves from New York City to the small town of Everwood, Colorado with their two children, 15-year-old Ephram (Gregory Smith) and nine-year-old Delia (Vivien Cardone). Ephram resents his father for the move across the country to a place where fitting in doesn’t seem possible at first. Before long, Andy settles into the town with his free practice and Ephram falls for Amy (Emily VanCamp).

Why you should watch: While Everwood has a charming small town in common with Sweet Magnolias, The WB darling might go a little deeper thematically. The series, which was created by Greg Berlanti, tackles all kinds of social issues you’d expect a teen drama to tackle. Dr. Brown’s adventures in winning over the town with his medical expertise opens the series to plenty of stories that hit home outside of the intriguing relationships colliding in the close-knit community. If you love spending time in Serenity, you’ll definitely adore taking a trip to the snowy mountainside of Everwood.
