Bob’s Burgers deals with a pandemic on its own so let’s rate how the Belchers handled it.

Season 11 of Bob’s Burgers has already started off with a bang. The season began with us getting a look into Bob’s dream and things already aren’t looking bright for the Belchers. This week’s episode, “Worms of In-Rear-Ment” gives us a look at what the Belchers are dealing with. We can only hope the pandemic in the episode doesn’t last as long as the one we’re in currently.

Either way, it’s hopefully going to be a nice escape for the world. In honor of this week’s episode, I thought it would be fun to talk about the episode and rate how the Belchers worked together to handle their own pandemic. The rating system is simple with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.

Before getting started, there will be spoilers from this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers, “Worms of In-Rear-Ment.”

Let’s talk about the events of “Worms Of In-Rear-Ment” before rating.

“Worms Of In-Rear-Ment” starts with the Belcher family having dinner before going to the symphony. Louise explains there’s a pin-worm epidemic going around in school and it gets in via butts. They’re getting ready for the symphony until Gene starts feeling an itch in his butt and the family is convinced Gene has pin-worms in his butt.

Louise is more concerned with the hamster slide as she’s afraid Gene touched it while Bob does some research. Linda is adamant about going to the symphony so Bob goes and gets some medicine for Gene while Linda looks for mittens to stop Gene from scratching.

While everyone’s gone, Gene explains he thinks he got pinworms from Peter Pescadero and Tina remembers her high-fiving Gene that day so she has pin-worms, too.

Gene also explains he was wearing Bob’s shoes earlier in the week and now, Bob is convinced he has pin-worms. Louise also reminds Linda about how much touching she and Gene do so Louise is the only safe one in the house. Linda goes a little crazy, trying to get Louise to go to the symphony and singing a song about pin-worms.

Louise tries to escape including tricking Linda, resulting in Linda chasing her and falling on the hamster slide. The episode ends with Bob reassuring Linda that she’s a good mother and it doesn’t matter if they go to the symphony as the kids are already great without the symphony along with Linda agreeing to help rebuild the hamster slide.

And the rating for how the Belchers handled their own pandemic is…

As for the rating of how the Belchers handled their own pandemic, it’s tough to say. Of all the Belchers, Linda easily handled it the worst while Louise handled it the best. Thankfully, they were able to quarantine together and contain everything in the house. Ultimately, I’d say the Belchers get a “3” for handling their own pandemic.

Bob was relatively calm, getting the medicine and the rest of the family taking it. That was easily the strongest deciding factor and they would have gotten a higher score if Linda hadn’t acted so wild. Either way, the Belchers still contained the pinworms in their family, washed their hands as much as possible, only went outside for necessities, and were able to have fun together. Some could learn a few tips from “Worms Of In-Rear-Ment.”

Overall, the episode was a fun look at an epidemic as it was created before the world was in a pandemic. While it might hit close to home for some, it was still a lot of fun. Ultimately, it probably would have been a great way to kick off Season 11. However, it’s easy to see why they didn’t start off with such a touchy topic at first. Once again, Bob’s Burgers manages to make a point while not taking itself too seriously and that’s what’s important.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
