If you want Halloween fun, Netflix’s A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting is a must-watch.

It’s hard to believe Halloween is upon us. It feels like October just started but it’s almost over but thankfully, there is still a bit of time before Halloween. Finding a good Halloween flick can be hard especially if you have younger kids. You want something that’s going to be spooky but not enough to actually give yourself or the kids nightmare. Maybe you don’t have any kids and want something only slightly spooky for Halloween.

Look no further than your Netflix account. Netflix has been releasing a handful of Halloween flicks for this year. It’s especially timely as almost all of us are still in quarantine or are spending a lot more time at home.

In particular, one film’s been an absolute delight this Halloween season is A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting. Considering how popular the Baby-Sitters Club series was, it’s clear babysitters are back in business.

Before discussing the movie, there will be no spoilers. However, I will be talking about some of the cast and aspects of the movie if you don’t want to know anything. If you’re fine with that, then feel free to keep reading. With that small warning out of the way, let’s get into why A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting is the ultimate Halloween watch.

Let’s get into why A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting is perfect for the spooky season.

Starting things off, the title should be a tip-off for you. The entire premise of the movie is about a girl who is babysitting and eventually has to hunt monsters with a group of other babysitters. If it sounds like a wild premise, that’s because it is. This movie has all kinds of different monsters, creatures, and babysitters alike. Either way, the film lives up to its title for multiple reasons other than that.

Another reason why it’s a great spooky watch is because of the visuals. A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting has some pretty stellar visuals during the film. Whether it’s the scenes with real people or some of the monsters, it’s something to marvel at.

The movie is very imaginative and playful at times but the visuals still feel realistic. Everything feels bright and colorful so it’s rare that you’ll lose focus when you’re watching.

This movie also doesn’t skimp on the adventure part of the title. The main character, Kelly gets into some pretty wild things. Throughout the film, we watch her deal with some high-stakes situations but she pulls through like a champ. She’s also joined by Liz who also had her fair share of adventures. Ultimately, the two of them end up being a dynamic duo, and dealing with problems others wouldn’t even fathom.

Overall, what made the movie so enjoyable was the cast. In particular, the casting of Tom Felton as The Grand Guignol was amazing. He’s pretty much unrecognizable unless it’s an up-close shot of him. He’s incredibly creepy and plays a scary boogie-man. The film also features Tamara Smart as Kelly and Oona Laurence as Liz. In each of their roles, the actors do a pretty good job with what they’re given so it’s nothing against them.

Ultimately, the movie is cute and a lot of fun. It’s not something to be taken seriously and I’m sure everyone seems to know that. Either way, it makes for an enjoyable watch, and with a run-time of just over 90 minutes, it’s a quick one. While it might not be as delightful as some other Halloween classics, it’s enjoyable.
