What are the 10 best TV theme songs of the 2000s?

The TV shows that premiered in the 2000s were so good! Some are still as popular today as when they first came out. The shows were fun, the fashion was great, and the theme songs were perfect.

At Hidden Remote, we thought it would be good to rank the top 10 theme songs of the 2000s. Ready for some nostalgia?

Some of these theme songs are the most well known of all-time and are so catchy that many of us have on our music playlist and have stuck in our heads for weeks from time to time. The theme songs have become so iconic, from Friends to Malcolm in the Middle. You could ask anyone who grew up in the 2000s, and they will know some or at least all of the theme songs on these 10 best TV theme songs of the 2000s list.

Please note that this list does not consider the quality of the TV shows, as that would be on a completely different list. This list purely focuses on the opening credits of the theme songs, and that’s it.

Let’s see if your favorite theme song and songs of the 2000s made this list

10. Malcolm in the Middle

For those who are from Generation Z, they most likely would have grown up watching the Fox TV series Malcolm in the Middle.  Malcolm in the Middle ran for six seasons from 2000 till 2006.

Many would have either sung along or hummed along to the famous theme song. The lyrics  “You’re not the boss of me now. You’re not the boss of me now” is such a catchy song that it is hard not to get stuck in your head.

The Malcolm in the Middle theme song “Boss of Me” was won by alternative rock band They Might Be Giants its first-ever Grammy in 2002, in Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media Category. It became the first theme song ever to win a grammy, which is an incredible achievement in itself.

“Boss of Me” was written specifically for the TV series. The theme song is crazy, and it was the perfect song to set viewers up to watch one of television’s most untraditional families ever to grace our screens.

Of course, the theme song ended with “life is unfair!” which describes the exact life of the middle child Malcolm. Malcolm in the Middle’s opening is one of the best TV show theme songs of all time.

9. The OC

The OC theme song “California” will forever be one of the best theme songs. The song is sung by the American rock band Phantom Planet. If you are like me, The OC is a show you may have at least watched once or is a show that has become one of your favorites. It started way back in 2003 and finished in 2007.

Many who have watched The OC would always sing these words at the top of their lungs, “Californiaaa, Californiaaaaa, here we cooooome!” Even today, the song is still widely popular 17 years later. Nonetheless, the TV show was hugely impacted by music.

The show’s soundtrack was important over the four seasons the show ran for as there were six soundtracks. This show’s soundtrack has arguably the best TV soundtrack of the last 20 years, and it defined the specific tone of the show’s narrative. It is almost impossible not to discuss the legacy ofThe OC without mentioning its theme song.
