After taking a weeklong hiatus for the Presidential election, This Is Us returns for an all-new episode tonight on NBC. Since there’s never a dull moment in the Pearson family, the two-hour season premiere started off with a bang. The biggest revelation involved Randall’s birth mother, Laurel, who may still be alive.
In the first and second episodes of the season, This Is Us covered the Big Three’s 40th birthday. However, the celebration was a little different this time due to the schism between Randall and Kevin. While Kevin and Kate went to the family cabin, Randall elected to stay with Beth and this girls in the Philadelphia area. However, Randall went up to the cabin after Rebecca had a mental lapse, which required the police to bring her home from town.

Each member of the Big Three made life-changing decisions. Randall decided to switch to a black therapist for future consultations. For the oldest member of the Big Three, not only will Kevin have twins, but he proposed to the mother of his future children, Madison, to which she accepted for now. Speaking of children, Kate and Toby were approved as parents for adoption.
This Is Us Season 5, Episode 3 preview
In the promo for the third episode, Kate and Toby will meet with a single mother. Thanks to the Season 4 finale, we know that Kate and Toby will adopt a daughter named Hailey. Is the woman in the promo the mother of Hailey?
Also, a newly-engaged Kevin will attempt to adjust to life with Madison. Plus, the youngest versions of the Big Three will be back for this week’s episode. If you can believe it, they’re already 13! Where has the time gone?
