Matthew Perry confirms a filming date for the Friends Reunion
It seems like lifetimes ago that the cast of Friends—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc—all took to Instagram in unison to announce the news that they’d be coming together once again for a TV reunion special.
In reality, that was only just back in February of this year, but 2020 has certainly felt longer than a normal year.
It was originally believed that the planned reunion would be released along with the new streaming platform, HBO Max. However, that service debuted back in May of this year, and because of COVID-19 safety concerns putting a hold on nearly all productions, Friends fans believed they were going to have to wait a little bit longer.
It was then reported that HBO execs, the cast, and crew were hopeful for a release by the end of summer, but we all know that didn’t happen.
Fast forward to the fall, and we still didn’t really have word on when that unscripted reunion would be debuting. One of the last things we heard was an update from Friends star Jennifer Aniston, who explained it simply was not a safe time to do something with a live audience.
Well, now we have a new update from another one of the show‘s actors. But brace yourselves, guys. Though we’re excited to have a new date to look forward to, it’s not for a long time.
As reported by TV Line, Matthew Perry took to Twitter this week to reveal that the Friends reunion was being rescheduled to March 2021. Sheesh! Could we be any more impatient?!
You can see Perry’s tweet below.
Of course, fans are excited that the reunion is still happening, after all. We’ll be sure to mark the new month on our calendars, and look out for any other news regarding the schedule. Now let’s hope these next four months fly by!
