Rose McIver stars as Amber Moore, an ambitious journalist trying to find her big break. When she is sent to Aldovia to cover a royal press conference she is determined not to come back without a major scoop. After the press conference is abruptly canceled, Amber snoops around the palace and in a case of mistaken identity finds herself becoming the tutor to Princess Emily.

Emily and Amber quickly form a bond and Amber begins to form an attachment to Emily’s brother as well, Prince Richard. Though he is thought of as a playboy prince, Amber soon realizes that Richard is actually kind and caring and wants to do the best by his people and his father’s legacy. But Amber will have to help him thwart schemes from his ex-girlfriend and his jealous cousin Simon.

The sequels follow Amber and Richard as they continue their lives together and we learn more about them each time and more about the Kingdom of Aldovia. These movies may not be revolutionary but they’ve got all the classics of good Christmas movies: a young American girl falling for a handsome European Prince against a Christmas backdrop with plenty of romance and holiday cheer. Plus, undercover identities and scheming family members.

The Knight Before Christmas

While her The Princess Switch movies might be more well known, they aren’t the only Christmas movies Vanessa Hudgens has starred in. The Knight Before Christmas brings a little medieval flavor to the Christmas season.

Vanessa Hudgens stars as Brooke Winters, who meets Sir Cole after accidentally hitting him with her car one night. Sir Cole is a knight from the 14th century who was sent into the future to fulfill his destiny of becoming a true knight. Brooke thinks he has amnesia from being hit by her car when he tells her that, so she decides to help him until he regains his memories.

Brooke takes Cole in, and while she waits for him to regain his “real” memories she falls for her knight in shining armor. Brooke teaches Cole about the modern world and Cole shows Brooke that chivalry still exists. It’s a sweet holiday romance for anyone who ever hoped for their knight in shining armor to come sweep them off their feet.
