While the dam breaking is certainly a shocking moment, here are the 5 biggest WTF moments from the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere.

We knew the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere was going to have shocking moments. It is 9-1-1 on FOX after all.

The premiere immediately set the timeframe. It’s six-months after the start of the pandemic, so masks are just a normal part of life. It really does help to keep all actors safe on set. That wasn’t shocking moment, though.

There were plenty of other WTF moments throughout. Here are the five biggest WTF moments from the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere.

Chimney still not living with Maddie

After opening with the dam breaking, we jump back two hours and see where Maddie and Chimney are right now. They’re not living together. Chimney felt it too dangerous because of his job, so moved in with Buck for a while. Maddie is with Chim’s brother.

It’s clearly weighing on Maddie. She’s six-months pregnant and doesn’t have the father of her child there. Expect this to play on her mind. It’s time for Chimney to move back home.

Athena struggling to return to work

The biggest story of the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere is Athena’s. She’s struggling with returning to work, although she won’t tell anyone.

She’s returning to desk duty only, but we all know that won’t be the case. She’ll get back on the beat to help those in need after the dam breaks. That’s to come in the next episode.

May working with Maddie

This is a good WTF moment. May struggled with an idea for her future. That changed when she helped get people to safety at the end of Season 3. Now she’s at work, and she’s chosen to become a 9-1-1 dispatcher.

May is already proving her enthusiasm and her ability to take the initiative. It’s going to be fun seeing more of her this season, especially considering the way things started with May when the series premiered.

It’s Athena’s captain who needs Athena out there. They need to get people in a residential area out before a landslide and Athen is the best to coordinate that.

‘At least it’s not a tsunami’

The line of the night should probably go to Eddie. After a bus is pushed through a building, the 118 is called to the scene. There’s this cute little moment in the elevator and then the doors open to the situation.

Eddie just smiles at the situation, saying to Buck “at least it’s not a tsunami.” Oh that look from Buck!

The bus explosion

After getting all but one victim off the bus, the 118 can get the guy under the bus. The only one left on the bus is a young man with autism who is struggling with everything that’s happened. Bobby understands and instead of pushing CJ off the bus, he speaks to him, understanding the fear.

Just as Bobby is going to get CJ off the bus, the fuel line breaks. The bus explodes with Bobby and CJ still on it. It’s okay; the explosion wasn’t too bad and everyone gets off the bus safely.

The woman in the storm drain

Like many of these big episodes, the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere started with a guest star and then ended with her. She’s the one who called in the dam breaking but was swallowed by the water. She ended up in a storm drain, with Maddie knowing a landslide was coming.

There’s a moment Janelle looks like she’ll give up, but she manages to get the breaker box open. Help is on the way just in time.

Of course, there is a landslide. That gets us ready for the next episode.
