Snowpiercer is renewed for Season 3 ahead of the Season 2 premiere

Fans of Snowpiercer should be ecstatic at the moment. Season 2 of the dystopian (dysnowpian?) thriller hasn’t even started and the third season is already approved according to Variety. The first season success was obviously noticed by the upper brass, as stars Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly steered an absolutely riveting first season.

Here’s what information is known at the moment.

Season 1 recap

More from Drama

In between eating rodents and causing complete chaos between the divided classes on Snowpiercer, caboose captain Layton (Diggs) has taken on a new role. At first, he was just called upon to be an investigator, but he parlayed that into rebellion leader and eventual train leader. Alongside former, covert boss Melanie (Connelly), they managed the train through turmoil.

Now, however, the previously believed deceased Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) has returned with a second train that has overtaken Snowpiercer. To make matters worse, his protégé is Melanie’s daughter Alexandra, who was also believed to be dead.

Snowpiercer Season 2

For those anxiously awaiting the next episode, the official trailer is incredible.

Based on the preview, there is going to be quite a bit going on outside of the train. Apparently there have been snow-mobiles the entire time, which is odd, because there could have been exploration this entire time. Additionally, one of the trains is capable of shooting something into the sky, possibly a method of surveillance or reconnaissance.

Most importantly, however, based on Sean Bean’s career, his time on the train won’t be long. Best guess: Mr. Wilford gets tossed from the train at the end of Snowpiercer’s second season.

What really needs to be answered is whether or not the supply train piloted by Mr. Wilford is as prepped as the Snowpiercer itself. The odds are unlikely considering the purpose for “Big Alice,” and the fact that Alexandra looked so malnourished.

Could the new additions just be a huge caravan of Tailies breaching the Snowpiercer’s southern border?
