Courteney Cox’s actor of choice to play Joey in a Friends reboot might surprise you

As fans all know, we’re still waiting on that highly-anticipated Friends reunion special. Fortunately, it seems the wait is officially almost over. And when it comes to a potential Friends reboot, the idea remains up in the air thus far. With that said, the possibilities are seemingly endless for how it all could play out, and there’s plenty of time to dream about it.

Apparently, Courteney Cox has some reboot dreams of her own.

According to Bustle, the lovable Friends cast member already knows who she would cast as Joey Tribbiani in a Friends reboot, if and when it finally comes to be. With all the options out there, her answer might just surprise you. But it kind of makes sense when you think about it. So who might this lucky actor be? Well, Courteney Cox claims she would totally cast Timothee Chalamet as Joey.

While talking with Kevin Nealon on his YouTube series Hiking with Kevin last year, the conversation of a Friends reboot came up, naturally. When asked who was skilled enough to play each character on the beloved 10-season series, Cox quickly said the Call Me By Your Name star could definitely pull off Matt LeBlanc’s now-iconic role.

According to Courteney, not only is Timothee “so great” as an actor, but he actually looks the part too, in his own way. Nealon and Cox agreed that LeBlanc and Chalamet favored each other “a little,” which of course only added to this dream scenario where Timothée Chalamet plays Joey Tribbiani.

As noted by Bustle, Cox also discussed HBO Max’s Friends reunion special, now set to start up in March 2021. Courteney revealed at the time, “We’re gonna all get together for the first time in a room and actually talk about the show,” adding, “I’m so excited. It’s gonna be a great time. We really haven’t all done that and actually sat there… and reminisced about this incredible experience that we had.”

I’m sure it goes without saying that we truly can’t wait to see what the beloved cast of Friends will ultimately come up with for the reunion show. In the meantime, the question on our mind is, would Timothee Chalamet be interested in signing on for the role of Joey someday? Perhaps only time will tell.
