The Aglaeca has undoubtedly given the Drew Crew a lot of grief. In the first season of Nancy Drew, the sea spirit managed to kill Nancy’s love interest, Owen Marvin. Shortly after, she came for the Drew Crew but not without giving them previews of their miserable deaths.

In the end, George was as good as dead, and Nancy was forced to resort to drastic measures to revive her. Out of all the spooky entities that we’ve seen so far, the Aglaeca has not only been the most difficult to defeat; she’s been responsible for the most significant losses.

What’s more, Nancy and friends may believe that they’ve seen the last of the sea spirit but that’s not entirely true. While the magic that took place during Nancy’s final standoff with the Aglaeca banished the sea spirit portion, the woman behind it all is still present. Somehow, Odette Lamar’s was able to tether herself to George.

We witness this as soon as George looks in a mirror, and we see Odette follow behind her. Not as a sea spirit in fish-like form but as the ghost of the woman who was once alive. George is also exhibiting strange behavior, using foreign oil, singing French songs, and blacking out.

However, deciphering what’s going on will not be as easy as asking George. She doesn’t seem to know that Odette is to blame for everything she’s experiencing.

However, George whispering to herself, “I’m still here,” at the end of “The Riddle of the Broken Doll,” signifies that she is aware of a struggle to remain present in her body. George must be fighting to remain conscious and in control of herself.

It is possible that although Odette has not exhibited any malevolent takeover vibes, she may be getting comfortable in George’s body. She may even aspire to take over completely, which means that Odette will have to be expelled at some point.

What will Nancy Drew have to do to get rid of Odette?

Odette’s lingering ghost also begs the question, does Odette have unfinished business that keeps her in the living world? Nancy had previously tried finding out everything she could about Odette and offered everything from her necklace to publicly exposing Odette’s killer. What could be left to resolve?

Of course, Odette could just be taking advantage of an opportunity to be a living person again. And that would force the Drew Crew back to where they started, but this time it won’t be about undoing a curse tied to a sea spirit. This time they will have to exorcise a ghost from George’s body, which I’m sure Hannah has a quick guide for somewhere.

The more significant issue is whether removing Odette’s ghost will have any lasting effects. I mean, what if the only way George was able to survive wasn’t entirely due to the shroud but because of Odette’s spirit?

Even worse, what if the amount of time Odette has spent in George’s body leads to more severe outcomes? After all the Drew Crew has been through, they could lose George anyway.

Nancy and friends will have to swat at the dark entities that were previously unleashed on the town for the time being. Hopefully, all the leg work to cleanse Horseshoe Bay of the spirit world will prepare them to tackle Odette when the time is right.

Tune in to Nancy Drew every Wednesday at 9 PM starting March 10 on The CW.
