The doctors of New Amsterdam are back, and they have a few problems to deal with. Don’t miss a beat of the New Amsterdam Season 3 premiere tonight.

Let’s get something out of the way first. There is a pandemic storyline. However, New Amsterdam had a pandemic storyline planned before the actual pandemic.

Back in Season 2, there was going to be a superflu storyline. That episode was postponed as the real pandemic started, with the creators of the show feeling like art was too close to reality. It sounds like the superflu may have been changed to COVID-19, but the rest will remain somewhat the same.

I have a feeling we’re getting flashbacks during this episode, though. After all, there are some photos from the episode where none of them are wearing masks and other photos where they are. New Amsterdam could go the route of The Resident Season 4, which kept the pandemic contained to one episode.

However, there will likely be knock-on effects, with Max searching for scarce medication and maybe a few less hospital beds than they need.

A plane crash is the focus on the New Amsterdam Season 3 premiere

The all-new episode brings a major problem when a plane crashes in the East River. Not only do patients need to be treated, but the pilot needs to get to the bottom of the problem. Iggy is going to be the one to help with that.

There are investigators on their way. If nobody can figure out what the issue was, there could be some liability issues. Could there also be insurance issues? The last thing anyone needs right now is a huge medical bill!
