NCIS Season 18, Episode 8 was the last episode for Maria Bello as Jack Sloane. After three years of getting to know her, Sloane’s exit was executed in a manner that was fitting for who she was. Fans will miss her but will be glad to at least know she got an ending befitting for someone who connected with the other characters so well. Find out how “True Believer” bid farewell to Sloane.

The episode centered around the kidnapping of four girls in Afghanistan. What connected the team to the case was a message written in the window that had Sloane’s name on it.

The girls were abducted by the Taliban on their way to school. Their chaperone was a woman named Darya, who helped Sloane when she was held captive and tortured.

The bus routes for the girls are always kept secret, except this time the coordinates were sent via e-mail from the United States. Back home, Nick, McGee, and Torres are tasked with figuring out who the hacker was.

Jack Sloane’s final episode of NCIS finds her searching for missing girls

At first, it appears Darya may have revealed the location of the bus route, but when she is found dead, Sloane is distraught. They still need to figure out who actually tipped off the e-mail sender about the coordinates.

Back in the States, the man they are looking for has been found dead. Identified as an infamous hacktivist, McGee tries to get into his system with the help of the man’s former associate. Unfortunately, this then leads to the entire NCIS system being hacked.

Eventually, the team is able to get help from one of the man’s followers, who then leads them back to the associate. Now having caught their killer, they are able to determine who was actually responsible for the girls’ kidnapping.

After the girls are rescued and reunited with their families, Jack reveals her real plan to Gibbs. She is not going to Costa Rica and is going to stay in Afghanistan. She wants to continue to aid the people there like Darya was doing.

It’s a bittersweet goodbye she has with Gibbs, but it’s great to see her leave in a manner that could lead to us seeing Sloane once again.

Even though we didn’t get a goodbye scene with the team, at least Nick has her fish, Carl. McGee can help with the automatic feeder!
