It’s the confirmation we’ve been waiting for, Friends fans! The highly-anticipated cast reunion special is definitely happening, and it’s likely coming out sooner rather than later. In even more exciting news, it turns out the latest confirmation came straight from Ross Geller’s mouth!

According to People, Ross actor David Schwimmer recently spilled a few beans during an interview on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy about the upcoming HBO Max special. The televised reunion will not only bring the iconic main cast together again, but it’ll also give fans even more than they bargained for with the backdrop. Adding nostalgia atop nostalgia, the Friends reunion special will take place on the NBC comedy’s original soundstage.

As Schwimmer revealed during the interview chitchat, this dream team reunion for the cast of Friends is “actually” taking place in the near future. “Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to L.A,” said Schwimmer.

Ultimately, it’s been a matter of timing for the reunion, at a time when filming schedules are not an easy thing for any cast or crew to seamlessly figure out, much less a retired cast of a no-longer-running show. As we previously reported, Matthew Perry had already revealed that those behind the scenes selected a feasible date, following numerous delays.

For the latest update, David Schwimmer added:

"So, finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols."

While Schwimmer might be sharing some truly revealing tidbits about when to expect the reunion to happen, he’s not giving up too many reunion nuggets just yet. While he assured “it’s happening,” Schwimmer also admitted the cast must be hush-hush about who is hosting the special. The Friends alum shared, “I can tell you it’s not Ellen, and it’s not Billy Crystal,” but said that’s about all he could tell us for now.

We’ll keep you updated when we get an exact release date for the upcoming special!
