Smallville’s newest residents, Superman and Lois, along with their boys Jonathan and Jordan, continue to adjust to small town life in Kansas. In this episode titled “The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower,” Clark drops some facts on his sons regarding his extraordinary powers.

Meanwhile, the newly formed dynamic duo at the Smallville Gazette, Lois and Chrissy, set out to unearth the truth about Morgan Edge. What could possibly go wrong there, right? Oh yeah, and Sarah’s bully boyfriend Sean unknowingly provokes Jordan, who was about to go all heat vision on his rear end.

Clark hears things

The family’s house painting party is interrupted thanks to Clark’s sensitive hearing of a distress call all the way in China. A bridge full of motorists is collapsing so Superman flies off to save the day. During breakfast, Clark explains the history of his super audio perception to which Jonathan wanted to know what was the most embarrassing thing his dad ever heard, and did it involve nudity.

While at school, Jordan is accosted in the hallway by Sarah’s bully of a boyfriend Sean. Jonathan pleads with Jordan to “use that thing Dad gave you,” but Clark is at home listening and arrives just in time to save Sean from turning into a rack of ribs.

Jordan’s Football try-out

Jordan, or as one teammate calls him, “Disney in cleats,” runs out on the field in uniform to everyone’s surprise including Jonathan’s. Jordan has another surprise in store for everyone. Now possessing the strength of a bulldozer, Jordan charges into his teammates and lays them down in the mud. It is hardly unlikely that he and Jonathan will be bullied anymore.

Jonathan defends Jordan

Although football has always been Jonathan’s thing, he becomes an advocate for his brother explaining to an upset Clark that the sport may be just what Jordan needs. He’s making friends and is happier now. Clark was worried about Jordan not controlling his powers, but the young grasshopper (Jonathan) reached the master (Clark).

Lois is in trouble on Superman and Lois

That fight scene though. Lois travels to a motel to visit a witness for her investigative story on Morgan Edge. Once inside the room, Lois gets thrown around like a ragdoll by an extremely tall and extremely strong man. It doesn’t take long for Superman to bust through the wall only to get pummeled by this stranger. Who is this tall, strong man? Not worry. Superman catches his breath, literally and figuratively, and put in some work for an epic beatdown.

Sarah, Lana, and Leslie

Over in the Cushing household, things may be worse than anyone could have guessed. A checked-out Kyle sleeps on the sofa, little Sophie is a bully at school, Lana has become a pill-popper in order to cope. After two earlier public blow-ups, at school and at the diner where Jonathan announced Lana was entering in like an EF-4, Lana and Sarah share a tender yet revealing mother-daughter moment.

The tall, strong stranger seems to be leaving town, or at least trying to leave. As he is driving along a dark road, Morgan Edge’s red-haired assistant appears in the middle of the road and fires up her matching red heat vision eyes.
