Everything goes “Haywire” on Superman and Lois  Season 1, Episode 4. Investigating reporters, Lois and Chrissy, catch shifty-eyed Morgan Edge chatting it up with Kyle Cushing and Mayor Dean at the high school football game.

On the home front, Clark agrees to help Lois at a town hall meeting but gets pulled in other directions as usual. There is only so much a person can take as the normally supportive, not-so-long-ago family football star, extrovert Jonathan develops mixed feelings about Jordan’s newfound popularity.

Here are the five best moments from the episode.

Superman and Lois stand up to General Lane

General Sam Lane makes a surprise visit to his grandsons’ football game and immediately notices Jordan shines on the field. He confronts Lois, letting her know he knows Jordan has to possess powers. Lois defends Clark for his decision to be a father in every sense of the word, something Sam did not deem a priority.

In another scene, Clark sounds off on his father-in-law, making it clear that he does not work for him and he actually deems his children as a priority. Ticked off that he is losing control of his super weapon, the general puts project 7734 into action.

Lois gets in Morgan Edge’s face

Lois kicked more butt than Superman in this episode. First, Daddy then Edge found himself in her line of fire. After Edge’s sidekick, laser-eyed Leslie Larr threatens Lois with a lawsuit regarding her Daily Planet contract, Lois threatens Edge with a countersuit, which means discovery.

It’s doubtful ole Morgan would want all of his business dealings dragged into court. Before making her point and marching out, Lois glances over at Larr and announces the creep show is now over.

Tag is going through some things

Jonathan’s school buddy, Taj “Tag” Harris, suffered a broken arm during the bon fire fiasco in the first episode of Superman and Lois. Now, he is experiencing a little more than slight arm tremors and muscle spasms and twitching violently all over the place. Jordan feels guilty, believing it’s his fault which brings another tender moment between the brothers.

Jonathan admits he had been feeling somewhat jealous of Jordan and reassures Jonathan whatever happened to Tag was an accident. Turns out, according to Sam, Tag has been sent away to a secret DOD school for kids showing signs of meta human development. What are we to make of this?

Criminals still gonna crime

Back in Metropolis, low level criminal Thaddeus Kilgrave escapes during transport to another prison, something Sam wanted Superman’s help to begin with. Hearing the ruckus, Clark goes into Superman mode just as Jonathan was about to ask for help with Tag, only to be trapped by Kilgrave’s sonic blast. Fortunately, Superman breaks through with a clap after hearing a distress call from Jonathan.

Morgan Edge has monster size motives

After Leslie punches a hole in a crust of earth with her fist, we learn Morgan as many have suspected, his true reasons for interest in Smallville. Hidden within the town’s mines is a wealth of X-kryptonite, which Morgan plans to use in order to resurrect his own army of super humans. Makes one wonder, what is his true interest in Lana Cushing or how the oblivious Kyle will respond?
