Spoilers ahead for Episode 8 of Big Brother Canada 9

After the shenanigans that led to Josh’s eviction in Episode 7 of Big Brother Canada, The Sunsetters found themselves in a precarious position when a new alliance called The Oddballs— which consists of Austin, Breydon, Kyle, Rohan, and Victoria — formed and immediately gained power when Victoria won HOH.

Victoria nominated Kiefer and LaToya with LaToya as her target.

Although Jedson ended up winning the POV, on Wednesday night’s episode, Victoria forced his hand, telling him that if the Veto got used, Tychon, his number-one ally, would be named the replacement nominee. The episode would end on a cliffhanger, leaving Big Brother casuals on the edge of their seats, wondering what Jedson would end up doing.

So what did he do, and how did that affect the Eviction Night vote? Let’s talk about what happened on Episode 8 of Big Brother Canada 9.

Big Brother Canada 9: Jedson is forced into a corner and Tina contemplates her move

Unfortunately for LaToya, Jedson chose not to use the POV, leaving her and Kiefer on the block. In the DR, Victoria would feel overjoyed that her plan worked. Meanwhile, LaToya expressed her disappointment in the DR about being stuck on the block but said that she felt Jedson, Tychon, Beth, Austin, and Breydon would vote to keep her.

However, what she, and the rest of The Sunsetters, didn’t know, was that Victoria had already assured Kiefer he was safe and that Tina was considering jumping ship, feeling like the low woman on the totem pole.

When Tina revealed The Sunsetters to Tera, her number-one ally, and expressed her concerns, Tera validated her feelings, saying that if The Sunsetters got rid of Kiefer without hesitation, they would do the same to her. Since both women are playing the middle, they would agree to keep their eyes on both sides of the House.

LaToya and Kiefer give their pitches

Meanwhile, Jedson, LaToya, and Tychon started getting a bit too confident that the week would pass without consequence. They would be so confident, in their safety, that they would openly discuss targeting Victoria before Jury. What they didn’t know was that she was within earshot of them while waiting to get into the DR. Victoria would recount the incident later to Kyle and Austin in the HOH Room and would tell them that she didn’t trust the trio, to which they’d agree.

Still, despite being in The Oddballs crosshairs, LaToya would make her pitch to Austin in the Expedia Room, letting her know she had no intentions of going after her. Kiefer then came in, and LaToya left the two of them to talk. After getting interrupted by Breydon, Kiefer gave both of them his pitch, telling them that although Victoria assured him he was safe, he wanted to reiterate that he wanted to be there, a pitch that the two seemed receptive to.

A night of blindsides

Eventually, it was time for the Eviction Vote. Before the HouseGuests voted, however, both of the nominees had 30 seconds to make their final pleas.

Kiefer was up first and would tell his fellow HouseGuests time is the most valuable currency they have, and he was grateful for the time he spent with them over the past 20 days and that they should keep him in the game if it was good for their games.

Next was LaToya, who told the HouseGuests she hoped everyone would respect Victoria’s wishes and vote to keep her in the house.

While the House would respect Victoria’s wishes, it would be to LaToya’s detriment, as she would be sent packing by a vote of six to three with Beth, Jedson, and Tychon voting to save her.

However, in her exit interview with Arisa, LaToya would tell her she didn’t feel blindsided, citing Victoria’s insistence that she stay on the block as the reason she’d felt she was the true target.

She would correctly guess who she secured the three votes from. When asked why she couldn’t secure two more, she would say that her authentic personality kept her from campaigning too hard and making fake promises but that she was nonetheless proud of the game she played.

Following the Exit Interview, it was time for the HOH competition. For this competition, called “Seniors Disc-Count,” the HouseGuests would take turns going up to a shuffle-board table and taking a shot. Whatever zone the disc landed on would be their score, and when all was said and done, the person with the highest score would be the new HOH.

After everyone had gone, Austin and Kiefer had tied with 10 points, but with a tie-breaker shot, Kiefer would ultimately claim the title of HOH for the week!
