Bob’s Burgers: 5 best moments from Sheshank Redumption
No matter what show you watch, there is always one character who seems to fall between the cracks. Whether it’s because of the actor not being available, a lack of writing focused on that character or a general love for other characters, it can be frustrating to watch a character be underappreciated. On Bob’s Burgers though, that title has to be given to Linda Belcher.
Ever since the show’s inception, Linda Belcher has always seemed to slip through the cracks which aren’t anything new. On most animated sitcoms, the mother is usually the one who doesn’t seem to get nearly enough attention. Maybe it’s because motherhood isn’t nearly as fun as being a kid. No matter the reason, moms never seem to get all of the love and attention they deserve in the animated world.
However, Bob’s Burgers doesn’t do terribly when it comes to Linda. In her solo episodes, things usually don’t work out before Linda finally gets to be happy and be around her family. A bit formulaic but it’s clear that Linda loves her family. Additionally, in the episodes focused on the family, Linda always adds something whether it’s a funny song, an anecdote from the past, or a great one-liner.
Thankfully, Season 11 is giving us a Linda-centric episode for spring entitled “Sheshank Redumption.”
Before talking about the episode, there will be spoilers if you haven’t watched. With the spoiler warning out of the way, let’s look at the five best moments from Bob’s Burgers episode, “Sheshank Redumption.”
Let’s break down the five best moments from Bob’s Burgers episode, “Sheshank Redemption.”
5. The kids excuse for being late
The first unforgettable moment starts off when the kids end up showing up late from school. Bob and Linda start to get worried until they come in and share all three of them got detention. For Louise, it was because she replaced Ms. LeBau’s announcements with the lyrics of “Baby Got Back.” For Gene, he put a hot dog in a pencil sharpener while Tina got in trouble for Tammy over her making fun of horses.
4. Linda’s walking “accident”
The next moment has to be when Linda is angrily going on a walk as a way to get fit at forty with Ginger. She was so focused on being mad at the kids that she ended up not even going to the bathroom before she left.
Due to her drinking a Cayenne pepper smoothie, she realizes that she has to poop. At first, she tries to make it home until she sees a bathroom that’s out of order, and everywhere she turns, someone is around so she jumps into a bush, accidentally pooping her pants when she does.
3. Linda’s call to Bob
The next moment has to go to Linda when she decides to call Bob and let me know that he has to pick her up. She’s so embarrassed that she doesn’t want anyone else to know so Bob tries to “lie” and make up excuses for the kids. It’s so awkward for both Bob and Linda especially since things just keep piling up for them with Linda being stuck at the police station and Bob not being able to get the money to pay for the ticket.
2. Bob admits the truth to the kids
The next moment that really stood out was Bob having to admit to the kids that Linda ended up getting a ticket. The kids all try to figure out what’s going on with her but Bob won’t tell them. We also see the kids getting worked up and worried about Linda which is rare.
It’s also a nice change of pace to see Bob dealing with things without Linda and seeing the impact Linda has on the family. It’s a surprisingly cute moment for the entire family until the kids are shocked to find out what Linda actually got a ticket for.
1. Linda’s talk with the kids before the conference
The final best moment from the episode has to be when Linda ends up talking to the kids once they pick her up. She talks about how important it is to follow the rules and that sometimes people make mistakes which is something they can’t forget.
It’s an oddly comforting moment to come at the end of the episode and caps off what was a somewhat strange episode for Linda. Overall, it gave us a brief glimpse of why Linda doesn’t try to do things that are out-of-the-box for her.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
