Bob’s Burgers is one of the most character-driven shows on the planet. The series does a great job of not only showing how the characters grow but also introduce new characters splendidly and aren’t afraid to show the side characters more than a little bit of love. However, one area the show lacks at times is centering plots around certain characters. This is especially true when it comes to the Belcher family.

In particular, the staff and the writers of Bob’s Burgers haven’t truly nailed down multiple winners for two Belcher family members. First is Linda who is the matriarch of the family but her singular storylines either focus too much on her and another family member or she ends up not being the star of her own show. It’s frustrating since Linda is such a lovable character who deserves some good episodes.

The one character we don’t seem to see enough on their own is Gene Belcher. It’s no surprise as Gene is the middle child and thus doesn’t get as much attention as the girls. Even though they’ve tried a few different ideas, Gene never really seems to flourish in his own episodes as Louise and Tina do in theirs. Either way, the series still does a great job of trying new things with these characters.

However, “Mr. Lonely Farts” is looking to change the tides and hopefully, show give us a solid Gene episode. Before getting into the episode, there will be spoilers if you haven’t watched yet, but without further ado, let’s break down five of the best moments from the episode and then decide if it’s a new classic Gene episode or if it’s just middle-of-the-road.

Here are the five best moments from Bob’s Burgers episode, “Mr. Lonely Farts.”

Ken makes a comeback on Bob’s Burgers.

Starting things off is a moment that most of us have been waiting for and it’s when Gene brings up Ken. If you don’t remember Ken, Ken is Gene’s albino friend who he claims is real but Bob doesn’t believe him.

The episode starts off with him talking about spending time with Ken and the two of them Facetiming together. If you’re a fan of Gene, then this is an especially funny moment as it’s been a running gag since the series started. It’s still unclear if Ken’s real or not but he’s a huge part of Gene’s character so it was definitely a moment that Gene fans wouldn’t miss out on.

Gene becomes Kevin McAllister.

As for the second moment, it has to be when Gene realizes he was left home alone. He’s obviously confused and starts freaking out. He decides to try and call his parents but ultimately, ends up finding Linda’s phone on the couch and not knowing Bob’s number.

To try and make himself feel better, he decides to “call” Ken with a pair of kitchen tongs. It’s a really odd moment but ultimately something most of us can imagine Gene doing. However, that’s not the best part of his home-alone adventure.

Gene’s solo party

The third unforgettable moment from the episode was another Gene moment and it was when he started to “have fun” being home alone. It started off with him eating Linda’s crackers she keeps in the closet, having a rave in Louise’s room, reading Tina’s diary, and holding all of the spoons in the kitchen.

Considering he’s so young and he’s home alone, he’s basically doing everything he can to have fun since he won’t be in trouble. No doubt most of us can relate to that feeling since we probably did that a few times when we were younger.

Bob, Teddy, and Louise’s adventure

Coming in as the fourth moment was Bob, Louise, and Teddy going to investigate what’s going on with Adam who they’re paying a new grill hood from. Louise has been suspicious of him the entire time and when they go to find him, all three of them are feeling nervous.

It’s an oddly creepy moment in the episode which makes for such a nice contrast to what else is going on. It actually ends up that Andrew feels the same way about them and they all agree to go their separate ways.

Gene’s solo musical moment

The final moment came via Gene realizing that maybe he likes to be alone and even sings a song about it. Music is such an integral part of Bob’s Burgers that there’s no way this moment wouldn’t be included.

It was a huge change of pace for Gene and it allowed him to be able to have fun on his own. In the end, he’s even able to grind hamburger buns in the meat grinder as he planned to originally. It was such an unexpected episode for Gene and it was nice to see him getting his own time in the spotlight.
