Canceled or renewed TV shows 2021: 15 bubble shows that could go either way
Canceled or renewed: The Resident
Season currently airing: Season 4
What it’s about: The Resident Season 4 initially started with a COVID-19 storyline, but it was only for one episode. The focus was more on the financial impact, something that this medical drama has always focused on.
We did get the CoNic wedding that we’ve been waiting a ridiculously long time for, and we found out the two are expecting a baby. However, the season has also had us say goodbye to an original character.
While the show focuses on the financial aspects, it doesn’t overshadow the patient storylines, which bring plenty of heart to the show. There have been plenty of them over the course of the season.
Chances of renewal: This show does sit relatively well in terms of all FOX shows. There’s no reason to believe that it won’t be renewed at this time. We’re just waiting for FOX to make decisions about everything. After all, even 9-1-1 hasn’t been renewed yet!
Canceled or renewed: Prodigal Son
Season currently airing: Season 2
What it’s about: Prodigal Son Season 2 picked up with Malcolm trying to protect his sister. At the end of the first season, Ainsley killed Endicott and doesn’t remember doing it. Malcolm covered up the body, but eventually, it was found and Simon Hoxley turned up to cause trouble.
The season has also focused on Martin Whitly escaping from prison. It’s taken some time, but he is out. However, he’s not quite as free as he wanted to be.
Chances of renewal: This is one of those shows that is likely to be canceled, and it’s a crying shame. It sits in the second half of the scripted shows on the network and hasn’t performed well with its move to Tuesday nights—many shows struggle with this on FOX!
