We’re starting this post off with the great news that Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 is happening. What do we know about the new season so far?

ABC released the exciting news that the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial will return for another season. Ellen Pompeo agreed to another year contract, meaning Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 is a go.

Now our eyes are on what’s to come during the season. When will it premiere and what is the season going to be about?

We’ll break down what we know about Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 right now, and there will be updates as they happen. Make sure you bookmark for everything you need to know about the ABC medical drama.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere date

ABC hasn’t set premiere dates for the 2021–2022 season just yet. However, it looks like ABC is trying to get back to the fall start for the year, which means we’ll likely see the Grey Sloan Memorial doctors back at the end of September 2021.

This is going to depend on the pandemic and filming. However, things are starting to get back to some normalcy so there is hope that the last week of September is possible.

The show will likely stick to the Thursday 9/8c timeslot and expect crossovers with Station 19.

Season 18 won’t come to Netflix until sometime in June 2022 most likely. We’re waiting for Season 17 to come to Netflix, hopefully in June 2021 depending on the season finale date.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 cast

We know that Ellen Pompeo is returning as Dr. Meredith Grey. It’s not 100% clear if James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson are returning as Dr. Webber and Dr. Bailey.

A few of the current cast members have inked new deals, but there is one actor we know is not returning for Season 18. Jesse Williams is leaving the series. That’s going to happen in the May 20 episode.

We also know Giacomo Gianniotti won’t return. His character, Dr. Andrew Deluca, was killed offer during Season 17.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 trailer

There isn’t a trailer just yet. That’s not surprising considering the season hasn’t even been planned out and written yet! We’re not expecting a trailer until closer to the premiere date, so we’ll bring it as soon as it’s available.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 synopsis

Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 has been COVID-focused, and it’s definitely been felt. With some hope, the show will move on from the pandemic storyline for Season 18. Many other medical dramas have honored the frontline workers but brought us into a post-pandemic world, so it would be good to see Grey’s Anatomy do the same.

Other than that, we’re sure to see a mixture of patient storylines and relationship drama for the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial.
