The Chicago Fire Season 9 finale started light for Squad 3, but it took a scarily dark turn at the very end. What will happen on Chicago Fire Season 10?

Let’s start with the humor of the episode. Severide, Cruz, and Tony found out that Capp has a girlfriend. Of course, they didn’t believe him at first, but it’s true.

Also, Severide and Stella told everyone in the firehouse that they’re engaged. It was supposed to be a big, happy moment for all of them. And then the ending to the Chicago Fire Season 9 finale came.

We knew it was going to be a big one. Due to filming going ahead as expected, the show was able to end the season with a cliffhanger, just like it’s done so many times before. And that cliffhanger had our hearts in our mouths.

Will Squad 3 make it out alive on the Chicago Fire Season 10 premiere?

The last call of the night was for Squad 3. There was an overturned boat with a man inside, so the four members of Squad 3 swam in. They did eventually find the guy, but that’s when things took a literal turn for the worse.

The boat turned, leading to the only exit out getting blocked. The rest of the boat filled with water, and all four realized their tanks were out of air. The rest of Firehouse 51 knew deep down that there was a problem. They’d been in the water for about 23 minutes, and nobody was willing to answer just how much time the air in the tanks would last. The look on everyone’s faces said that it was only around 20 minutes or so.

We ended the season watching Cruz and Severide take their last breaths after Severide said they needed to find another way out.

Will they find another way out? Will we actually lose four members of Firehouse 51 in the Chicago Fire Season 10 premiere? It’s certainly possible that we’ll lose at least one. The show isn’t afraid to kill some main characters off, with Lauren German’s Leslie Shay killed off in the Season 3 premiere and Yuriy Sardarov’s Otis killed off in the Season 8 premiere.

Killing at least one of the characters off would keep the show grounded. It would leave fans uncertain about their favorite characters.

It’s uncomfortable, and viewers can decide not to watch a show because their favorite character is gone, but if shows put characters in dangerous situations and don’t go through with killing them off, the dangerous situations become less dramatic and scary for viewers. It’s like crying wolf.

Chances are that Severide or Cruz will find some way of getting out. It’s going to be an intense summer waiting for the Chicago Fire Season 10 premiere.
