Black Summer season 2 is now streaming on Netflix. Is the horror-thriller appropriate for kids? What is the Netflix series rated?

Your kid’s Netflix profile may not pull up Black Summer, and for good reason! But how scary is it and what is it even rated? Is it possible for the older kiddos to watch? Below, we share our best advice, what the series is even about, and more.

If you missed the first season of Black Summer, you are missing out! It’s a great series that offers a unique take on the apocalyptic classic story of the undead. No worries, though, you can stream both seasons on Netflix. If you enjoy this genre, you are going to love it.

We are not sure if the series will be coming back with another season. But, in the meantime, watch the first two! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest about upcoming new episodes.

Not everyone in your home may enjoy the series, though.

What is Black Summer rated?

Netflix has the series listed as TV-MA, which means mature audiences only and the recommended age for that is 17-years-old and up.

Black Summer scored the TV-MA rating for sex, suicide, language, and gore. So pretty much what all parents want to shield their kids from!

Common Sense Media agrees with this rating, but does list that mature15 and 16-year-olds may be able to handle it. As we always say, only you know your kids best! However, I don’t suggest this show for anyone under the age of 15. These days, we don’t need to expose kids to even more violence. Not to mention, it’s best to avoid nightmares.

If you’re searching for something else for the family, Netflix has plenty of PG-13 rated content available.
