Motherland: Fort Salem season 2 is upon us, switches! We’re finally set to dive back into this witchy world on the brink of yet another war that will unite sworn enemies the witch army and The Spree against an ancient organization bent on eradicating witchkind.

The Camarilla made their appearance in the season 1 finale, awakening an age old fear in General Alder who remembers the havoc and horror they’d unleashed before.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Jessica Sutton teased that Tally would become privy to these memories and nightmarish lived experiences via dreams. She and Alder now have a psychic link due to Tally becoming one of the general’s Biddies.

Sutton says, “[The dreams] really influence the relationship because we do experience this kind of intimacy, mother-daughter connection. We’ll see that relationship become more complex on many levels and it may not have a happy ending.”

Alder, however, does have hope and it comes in the form of new witches potentially joining the fray.

While we don’t know who these witches are we can speculate. Based on casting news from May 2021, we suspect Penelope Silver (Mellany Barros) will be among the group. She’s the only child of Vice President Blanton Silver (Victor Webster) whose discovery of her powers ties the Wade administration even closer to the witch army than it already is.

Last season President Kelly Wade (Sheryl Lee Ralph) fell prey to Alder’s puppetry which saw her keeping the general in her position as the leader of the witches when she had intended to dismiss her from her duties. While the Silvers will certainly be adjusting to the life Penelope is conscripted to lead as a witch soldier due to the Salem Accords, Alder could use this discovery to her benefit.

As for the Bellweather unit, with new powers comes revived and expanded tensions between Abigail and Raelle, though they both are focused on doing what they can for Tally. Meanwhile, Scylla will be navigating a complicated relationship with Willa, Raelle’s mother and fellow member of The Spree, as Anacostia keeps a close eye on her.

Get ready, switches, we’re in for a wild season!
