Jennifer Aniston sets record straight whether or not she slept with Friends co-star David Schwimmer

It’s not uncommon for co-stars in a movie or show to fall in love in real life, especially if their characters are an item. It’s happened to the likes of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer from True Blood, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie from Game of Thrones, and Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse from Riverdale, just to name a few. When it comes to Friends, we learned recently during the show’s reunion special that two of the stars actually had feelings for one another in real life. But did they act on it?

As we previously reported, Friends: The Reunion dropped major reveals about the cast and the time they shared together on set, including something major for Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer. The pair, who played Rachel Green and Ross Geller, respectively, admitted that they formed crushes on one another during the first season of Friends.

Despite their growing feelings for each other, the actors explained that they never took their relationship to the next step and didn’t consider themselves boyfriend-girlfriend — although they might have wanted to. The first time they kissed, Aniston and Schwimmer revealed, was on camera. So, no, it doesn’t appear they ever truly dated in real life.

Schwimmer shed light on the nature of their relationship during Friends, saying:

"“I think at some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship, and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”"

And in a new interview on The Howard Stern Show, Jennifer Aniston was asked straight-up whether or not she and David Schwimmer ever had sex. As reported by the Mirror, the Golden Globe-winning actress denied ever sleeping with her former co-star.

“I would proudly say I banged Schwimmer if that happened but no,” Aniston told Stern after he asked if she “banged” the Ross actor. She also explained:

"“We were in relationships and it was always never the right time and it wouldn’t have worked. The beauty of that was that whatever feelings we had we just literally channeled everything into Ross and Rachel and I think that’s maybe why it resonated the way it did.”"

So, there you have it! Aniston and Schwimmer were never an official item in real life, and they never even got physical. But, that won’t stop us from shipping the two actors anytime we watch Friends!
