It is a huge week in the theaters if you’re a Marvel movie fan with the long-awaited Black Widow finally being released, but it is also a big weekend for Netflix. There is a very strong slate of Netflix movies and shows that have released or are releasing this weekend so we’re here to tell you what you should be watching this weekend July 9-11.

This week sees Netflix releasing new seasons of several hit shows and brand new ones as well. There are also several new Netflix movies, including part two of the Fear Street trilogy. There was a lot to choose from but we narrowed our list to the top 7.

Last week we highlighted Sophie: A Murder in West Cork as the show of the week and that show is currently still in the top 10 shows on Netflix. We also highlighted Part one of the Fear Street trilogy and that title is not only in the overall top 10 but is the number two movie on Netflix currently. We won’t lead you wrong!

So with that said, here are the titles you should be looking out for this week.

New Netflix movies and shows this weekend

  • I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson: Season 2, July 6
  • Major Grom: Plague Doctor (movie),July 7
  • RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness: Season 1, July 8
  • Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (movie), July 9
  • Atypical: Season 4, July 9
  • Virgin River: Season 3, July 9
  • How I Became a Superhero (Comment Je Suis Devenu Super Heros) (movie), July 9

Best show this week

Netflix is notorious for canceling shows that people fall in love with but they do also nurture shows if the love is there and the budget isn’t insane. Atypical falls into that camp and the show is releasing its fourth and final season this weekend.

If you’re not familiar with Atypical, the show follows a young man on the autism spectrum as he looks to find more independence. The show has been praised for its portrayal of someone on the spectrum and the things that their families go through as well. The final season looks to be an emotional affair as a great run will come to an end.

Best movie this week

This will likely come as no surprise but the movie of the week is going to be Fear Street Part Two: 1978. Netflix took a risk by deciding to shoot and release a trilogy in three consecutive weeks. Even bigger a risk with the films being horror-themed and releasing in the middle of July, but based on the popularity of part one it appears to be paying off.

Part one took place in the mid-’90s but now the story will jump back 16 years to the ’70s which promises some new looks and new vibes. We’ll see if part two is as successful as part one.
