American Horror Stories is just around the corner, with its July 15, 2021, launch for FX on Hulu marking an evolutionary step for the genre series.

American Horror Story has been bringing season-centric content to audiences for over a decade, and American Horror Stories now alters the formula to an episodic nature. We’ve seen the ups and downs of seasons from the Ryan Murphy brainchild, and by utilizing limited tales for the spin-off, we will have a chance to see various ideas without the long-term commitment.

Based on the teasers we’ve seen so far, it appears that American Horror Stories will bring back familiar settings, such as the first season’s “murder house”, so why not expand some other pre-existing characters’ tales too?

AHS characters we need in American Horror Stories

Madison Montgomery

Madison is one of the most iconic and recognizable characters to come from AHS, regardless of your feelings towards the polarizing witch.

After her debut in AHS: Coven, many grew to miss the black arts version of Regina George for her one-liners and sometimes comedically detached view on humanity. By the time she was thankfully resurrected for AHS: Apocalypse, Madison became a pivotal role in stopping said apocalypse but remained in hell after the undoing of Michael Langdon. Sure, they said they will release her from her retail prison, but after changing her ways, she deserves to be more than a joke.

If we were able to see Madison readjust to life outside of her own nightmare, return to stardom, or even training new misunderstood witches, it could become an instant favorite. When you think of the witches we’ve seen from AHS, Madison might just have the most personality to offer and that’s worth exploring!

Scáthach

American Horror Story: Roanoke was definitely one of the strangest seasons the FX series has offered, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have its strengths.

In the oddly stylized docuseries spoofing reality television, there was a lot to process. A pig masked murderer, a family of cannibals, a ghost cult, and two sets of stories. Keep in mind, that’s just the surface-level plot lines.

That being said, we do get insight into the original supreme witch, Scáthach who has ties to the land and power in the afterlife. In the series, we primarily see her in “actor” form by Lady Gaga’s unnamed role, but we do see that the witch is very much real.

For witches to have such an important presence in American Horror Story implies that there has to be an expansion of lore at one point. We’ve seen the transition and set-up for the next supreme in a post-Cordelia world, however, opening the door again for Scáthach would show more origins of witchcraft in AHS. Even if in present-day, why not show the Roanoke land again with a perspective from Scáthach? It could happen, right?

Vivien Harmon

Knowing that the home from AHS: Murder House is set to appear in the new season means we could be looking at the use of former characters, and Vivien deserves it, honestly.

When you think about the characters to come out of the first season, just about everyone who met their end in the Harmon’s family home was a little diabolical. Vivien, played by Connie Britton, managed to avoid involving herself in the carnage but met her tragic demise in childbirth.

The end of the season intended to give us a little more positive side of Viven, taking on the role of keeping the home vacant. The Harmon matriarch isn’t necessarily a crucial character to any ongoing plot per se, but if we’re getting to see anyone from the first season, Vivien would be a welcomed choice.
