Lil Dicky has struggled to record his debut album, Penith, due to writer’s block and pressure from his label. During last week’s episode, Lil Dicky went to the legendary studio, Shangri-La, to record songs with the one of the most successful producers of all time, Rick Rubin.

Lil Dicky soon realizes that Rubin’s methods are unconventional. The compound feels more like a rehab facility than a recording studio. Two of Rick’s assistants, Biff Wiff and Atoms, are more interested in the rapper’s spiritual side than his rapping ability. They encourage Lil Dicky to sensory deprivation tank.

In the tank, Lil Dicky experiences multiple hallucinations that include his friends as well as a bald version of himself in what looks like a diaper. It’s during this hallucination where he learns to embrace his personality and trust his vision. After almost drowning, Dave wakes up and sprints to the staid, recording a song that he learned during his hallucination.

With his creative rut coming to an end, Lil Dicky will now race to record his debut album in tonight’s Season 2 finale. However, the preview teases that Dave will have to sacrifice some of the things he cares about in order to succeed. What, or who, must the rapper sacrifice?
