Showtime’s Dexter left fans on a sour note. Let’s just say most fans were not happy about the finale and wish the series had wrapped up a season earlier than it did, not to mention, left one beloved character alive, Debra Morgan.

Will the revival, Dexter: New Blood, bring fans peace? Will it make up for the big flaws? Well, it won’t bring Deb back to life, that’s for sure, but perhaps we’ll still enjoy the character in some way as Jennifer Carpenter will reprise her role.

Dexter: New Blood release date: When is it coming out?

The revival series premieres on Showtime this fall on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021. It’s set to be a ten-episode limited series, but we know limited series have been renewed before HBO’s The White Lotus is the latest “limited” series to be renewed for a second season, for example.

Dexter: New Blood: What is the series about?

The revival takes place 10 years after the events that happened in the Dexter finale. Dexter Morgan is still missing, presumed dead, after disappearing in the eye of Hurricane Laura.

Dexter is now going by a new name and identity, living in the small town of Iron Lake, New York. All seems to be going well, but recent events in Dexter’s new community will awaken the Dark Passenger.

Lithgow is listed as “cameo appearance.” However, TV Line has confirmed that Jennifer Carpenter will be a series regular, commenting that Deb won’t necessarily be “a ghost,” instead:

"“…more of a link or an echo or an inconvenient truth for Dexter. [She] comes back to sort of haunt and punish and caretake and provoke and love [Dexter].”"
