Kelly McCreary has announced her pregnancy, which leads to questions about what happens for Grey’s Anatomy. Will the pregnancy be written into the show?

McCreary certainly didn’t mince her words or hide her excitement as she announced her pregnancy on Instagram. It’s definitely exciting, and we’re so happy for her.

Of course, when a star of a series gets pregnant, there are a lot of questions about what this means for the series. Shows have two options to manage their female stars’ pregnancies. They can either hide the pregnancies or write them in.

Grey’s Anatomy has done both over time. However, mostly, it opts to hide the pregnancies due to the place the characters are in at the time on the show. It’s led to questions about what the series will do for McCreary?

Grey’s Anatomy could make Maggie pregnant

This pregnancy comes at a pretty good time for the TV series. Maggie’s character has just married Winston, and there haven’t been any comments about her not wanting children or her not being able to have children. Her ability to get pregnant and her willingness to start a family has been left open.

There is a chance that the show could write this pregnancy into the story. It would certainly make things easier on set. All that would need to happen is set a birth at a time shortly before McCreary’s so she can go off on maternity leave. It’s what happened for April when Sarah Drew was pregnant.

It would certainly be a fun storyline for her character. Maggie can be on the neurotic side at times, and a pregnancy could bring that out of her. We’d also get to see Maggie and Winston sharing this journey together after a difficult year. And with Jo now training to deliver babies, there could be a crossover with that storyline.
