3. Best CW shows: Batwoman

Let the record show that the cast and crew of Batwoman are resilient. This Arrowverse series, to the surprise of everyone, switched leads right after the conclusion of its first season.

Fans of the show began their journey with Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane in season one. They watched the caped crusader don a different but similar mantle to her famous cousin Bruce, navigate the turbulent waters between her and her father, work through a complicated history with a past lady love, and discover a secret about her long lost sister.

Then, Ruby Rose left the series, throwing the future of Batwoman in question until Javicia Leslie became Gotham’s new bat, Ryan Wilder.

Season 2 of the show, by virtue of having a different lead, has captured a new energy. The audience has been presented with an origin story that takes into account the hardships Ryan faced in her youth and how they inform her journey as Batwoman.

While the series has a new lead, new story, and new legacy; it has the same heart and same drive to do what’s best for Gotham and its people. It’s also the first show in the Arrowverse to have both a lesbian and Black woman lead which sets the series apart from its predecessors.
