The CW may not cancel shows as often as other networks (I’m looking at you, NBC), but when it does, it sure stings! The Republic of Sarah has been canceled after one season.

This is the network’s first cancelation since Katy Keene, so you have to give the CW some credit. Even when it has technically canceled shows like Black Lightning and Supergirl, the network at least tries to wrap things up and not leave fans hanging by giving the series a final season.

TV Line reports that it’s over for CW’s freshman drama, The Republic of Sarah, and I can’t imagine fans are very happy about it since episode 13 will now be its series finale, which wasn’t supposed to be the case.

Needless to say, don’t expect the story to come to a satisfying close. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want this to happen, but, more than likely, we’ll be left with unanswered questions.

Why did The CW cancel The Republic of Sarah?

Like most shows, the simple answer is ratings.

As the source reports, the series has averaged 326,000 weekly viewers and a 0.05 demo rating in Live+Same Day numbers, which is pretty low and not what the network aims for.

TV Line shares:

"“Out of the 30+ shows The CW has aired since Fall 2020, it only has out-rated the imports Wellington Paranormal and Dead Pixels, and placed 28th in total audience.”"

The Republic of Sarah stars Stella Baker as Sarah Cooper, a high school history teacher who leads a group that want their town Greylock, New Hampshire, to become independent from the U.S., making Greylock its own nation.

The CW series also stars Luke Mitchell, Nia Holloway, Ian Duff, Forrest Goodluck, Landry Bender, Izabella Alvarez, and Megan Follows.

The Republic of Sarah season 1, episode 13 premieres on the CW on Sept. 6, 2021.

Are you disappointed by the cancellation? Do you think another network or platform will save the series? Which CW series is your favorite right now?
