Halloween came a month early and with it, came the extremely scary film, Malignant. The 2021 film is slated to officially debut everywhere this week and horror lovers have been waiting to sink their teeth into something immensely terrifying especially after receiving endless scares in viewing the reboot of Candyman. Though there are no bees and men with a hook for a hand, this movie is still sure to be one that will leave you and your loved ones shaking in your boots.

But in speaking of your loved ones, you were probably getting ready to hit the movie theaters with everyone in tow to view this scary movie. However, there’s a chance you may have to leave a few people behind if they aren’t old enough. Which age groups can watch Malignant? We tell you everything to know, right here.

Malignant age rating

According to IMDb, the film was given an age rating of R (restricted), which means that viewers under the age of 18 years old are not permitted to see this film. The horror movie has scenes that contain strong language and profanity, violence and gore, and extremely intense and frightening moments, which wouldn’t be the most appropriate things for young ones to view.

Naturally, the film not being kid-friendly may have thrown a wrench in your plans for family movie night, but you’re in luck as we have a few suggestions that are just as spooky but are great for all ages to watch.

Goosebumps on Netflix is certainly the way to go as you have five seasons full of non-stop spooks and scares for the whole family to enjoy. If this R.L. Stine creation isn’t exactly your speed, then feel free to check out Train to Busan, the anime The Promised Neverland, and Cole Sprouse‘s Dismissed on Hulu to fulfill your horror needs.

The younger ones may not be able to stomach the upcoming scary movie, but we’re sure that you older ones are certainly up for the challenge! Be sure to catch Malignant in a theater near you on September 10th, 2021. But if you would prefer watching this horror film from the comfort of your own home, head to HBO Max to stream the film for a small fee.
